Israel advises Maldivian citizens to depart after an entry ban

In response to the Maldives government's recent modification to its rules prohibiting Israeli people from entering, the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs has advised Israeli residents living there to depart.

A Maldivian cabinet meeting took place to make this decision in response to popular protest over Israeli actions in the Gaza Strip.

The Ministry warned Israelis with second passports not to go to the Maldives, noting that it would be hard to help Israelis who run into trouble there.

Every year, about 15,000 Israeli tourists travel to the Maldives. In response to the situation in Gaza, the Maldives, which welcomes over a million tourists each year, decided to impose this embargo.
